In Memory of Doug Block

BENEFIT FOR CRISIS SERVICES IN MEMORY OF DOUG BLOCK JUNE 25, 2005

Doug Block
Member of the Saturday Knights.

We found Doug through WNY Music and were fortunate to have him join our jams for two years. Everyone always enjoyed jammin' with Doug because he was a great guy, a team player, and very talented. We will miss him greatly in any future jams, though we know he will always be jammin' with us in spirit. He will be remembered in our session tapes and every time we do a tune that Doug jammed with us.

Clark Steven,
and the musicians from the "Saturday Knights" jam sessions.

Doug's website is still up at MP3.com at http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/232/doug_block.html .

About Doug Block

Born in 1975, Doug Block grew up and lived in Lackawanna, NY.

Doug played in various bands in Buffalo after graduating college in 1997.

In 2000 he started work on his debut solo cd.

After a year in production, Doug's debut solo effort, 'Growing Up Local' Doug held his CD release party at Nietzche's January 12, 2002. He also did other touring in support of his new cd.

The album has elements of folk, reggae, alternative/country, and country-punk, yet in the tradition of genre's and styles constantly mutating, evolving, and coming together, the music is given the ever-encompassing term, rock-and-roll.

Toni Roberto, The Buffalo News said, "Singer-songwriter Doug Block has a spunk and spark that ring through loud and clear on his seven-track solo debut".

Doug died in a train accident according to the newspaper article, in June of 2002.
