About Crisis Services

Over two hundred times a day, seven days a week, someone calls the Crisis Phone Hotline for help. The Crisis Phone Counseling Program run by Crisis Services provides an immediate response to all callers on a 24-hour-a-day basis. Trained counselors provide immediate counseling for suicide, rape and other crisis calls, plus provide on-site trauma response and more. Over 90,000 phone calls are received each year from residents throughout Erie County.

Crisis Services (Suicide Prevention and Crisis Service, Inc.) is a unique, private, not-for-profit, mental health and human service agency with the mission of providing immediate, professional assistance to anyone, at any time, who is experiencing emotional or personal crisis. Crisis Services has been in existence since 1968 and currently employs 60 full and part-time staff and utilizes approximately 125 volunteers. Crisis Services works to promote the health and well-being of the community through prevention, education, immediate intervention, and access to community-wide resources 24 hours a day.
